The Access and Privacy Office is responsible for administrating the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (ATIPP Act). This Act gives you a legal right to request access to information held by Northwest Territories public bodies as well as the right to request a correction to your personal information. The legislation also sets out when a public body may collect, use and disclose personal information.
The ATIPP Act further provides for an independent review by the NWT Information and Privacy Commissioner of the decisions made under the Act. The Commissioner may also review how a public body has collected, used or disclosed your personal information.
