Information about NWT Corrections facilities and COVID-19 readiness

The correctional facilities of the Northwest Territories are managed by the Corrections Service and provide safe and secure custody for territorial and federal offenders. There are three territorial correctional complexes:

  • North Slave Correctional Complex in Yellowknife(adult male unit and youth unit)
  • South Mackenzie Correctional Centre in Hay River; and
  • Fort Smith Correctional Complex (separate units for male and female inmates)

Under the current COVID-19 health emergency, the Corrections service has posted information about how both inmates and Corrections staff are being prepared for and protected against COVID-19 in the facilities.
