South Mackenzie Correctional Centre

The South Mackenzie Correctional Centre (SMCC), managed by the Corrections Service, is located in Hay River and provides custody and supervision for adult male offenders. Both territorial and federal offenders with minimum to medium security ratings are held here, as well as remanded offenders.

Regular Visiting Hours

  • Monday to Friday from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
  • Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Special arrangements may be prearranged for alternate times. Please be advised that visitors will be asked to dress appropriately and follow facility rules. This includes being subject to search.
