Expression of Interest – Victims Assistance Committee

The Department of Justice is looking for two NWT residents to join the Victims Assistance Committee.

The Committee advises the Minister of Justice on services and supports for victims of crime and makes recommendations on how funding from the Victims Assistance Fund is distributed. Committee members serve a three-year term and help to:

  • Promote respectful, culturally safe, compassionate, and trauma-informed services for victims of crime across the NWT;
  • Support the development and improvement of victim services by working collaboratively with communities, organizations and justice system partners;
  • Review funding applications and make funding recommendations to the Minister;
  • Monitor and review reports on funded programs and projects to help ensure funds are used effectively and support positive outcomes for victims;
  • Contribute to the Committee’s annual report to the Minister; and
  • Provide advice and recommendations to the Minister on policies and initiatives that strengthen services and supports for victims of crime.

The Department of Justice welcomes applications from individuals who are committed to ensuring victims are treated with compassion, respect, and dignity, and who support increasing awareness of services available to victims.

Applications to this EOI must be submitted no later than 5:00 PM on August 31, 2026.
