Expression of Interest – Judicial Council for Territorial Court Judges

The Judicial Council for Territorial Judges reviews and investigates allegations made against a territorial court judge. The Council is currently seeking Expressions of Interest for three positions (2 lay members and 1 alternate lay member) to complete its membership.

The Judicial Council for Territorial Judges is established under the Territorial Court Act and members serve for four (4) year terms. Candidates must be an NWT resident. Experience in the following areas would be considered an asset:

  • Work experience in the field of justice
  • Volunteer role in the field of justice
  • Education, training or course work in the field of justice
  • Experience sitting on or working with a tribunal
  • Experience in ethics

Judges, members of a law society in Canada and employees in the public service, as defined in the Public Service Act, are NOT eligible to apply to be a member of Judicial Council for Territorial Judges.
