Wilderness Camps (Photo)
The Alcantara wilderness camp, located near Fort Smith, provides custody and supervision for adult male offenders. Territorial and federal offenders may be held here. It operates under contract using established Corrections standards.
The Department has piloted an elder wilderness camp in the Sahtu region to provide safe and secure custody facilities for adult male offenders.
Corrections does not fund wilderness camps that are not part of its system.
