Legal Services Board
The Legal Services Board administers the legal aid, court worker and public legal education programs in the NWT. The Board:
- Provides legal services to eligible people;
- Administers the Legal Services Act and Regulations;
- Provides public legal education;
- Exchanges information with other legal aid jurisdictions;
- Administers the Court Worker program.
- Gives policy and overall direction through the Executive Director; and
- Sets eligibility criteria.
On a day-to-day basis, the Executive Director and staff carry out the Board's work.
