Consultations
The Department of Justice would like to know what you think about proposed changes to the Securities Act.
The purpose of securities legislation is to facilitate the raising of capital while providing appropriate protections and remedies for investors. The current Securities Act is outdated and inadequate to address the very significant changes that have occurred in the capital markets and the regulation of those markets in Canada since it was enacted, in particular changes in recent years.
Consultations closed on November 5, 2007; however, we would still like to know what you think. If you wish to discuss the proposed amendments, contact the Department.
